Question:

I was wondering about fructose intolerance. If we are supposed to be natural fruitarian, why do some people have this? They can’t eat fruit at all.

Terrain answer:

As usual we need to look at the symptoms to discern what is really at play. “Fructose Intolerance” symptoms Gas, Bloating, Diarrhea, Stomach pain, which means they are blaming the fruit for bad food combining. Its not the fruit causing the issue, its everything else that is sitting in the gut stopping the body from being able to rapidly digest the fruit.
Most fruits digest within 1-3 hours. Cooked foods take anywhere from 4-5 hours to days to move out of the system. Fruit starts to ferment if it is not moved through the digestive system on a clear track. So if you have a build up of sludge in the digestive tract slowing down digestion then the fruit coming in will cause gas and bloating as it ferments while waiting to move through the system. Its not a fruit problem, its an everything else that is stopping the digestion of the fruit problem.
