Question:

I started my own garden this year. I’m not sure how much of it is in line with terrain model but I’m pretty proud of my little plot. I have tomatoes, squashes, strawberries, blueberries, sweet peas and scarlet kale!
However – the slugs like my plants too! I’m hoping for some suggestions on keeping the crawlies out of my garden. Currently I have a few pie tins with beer in it- but I don’t want to buy beer regularly (it smells gross and is expensive) to combat the invasion.
I live in Oregon on the coast; if that helps or plays a role in things. Thankful for any suggestions!

Terrain answer:

When Nat Farris and I were dealing with Slugs in Upstate NY we found the beer was fairly useless. I believe that cedar chips/cedar mulch was the most useful.
