I would like for your explanation in relation to this issue. It is no my post but i am interested in this too. I have the permission to post this copy..
I am about a third of the way through Herbert Shelton’s Hygienic Care for Children. I have to say, I am appalled at some of the recommendations in here. Do we really stand by this? Only 4 (preferably only 3) milk feedings a day. Don’t feed them anything at all for 12 hours overnight. Orange and grape juices starting from 24 hours after birth (don’t feed them at all the whole first day). Never rock your baby. Let them cry it out. No solids until 2 years old. I’m trying to keep an open mind as I fully support the NH recommendations for adults, but this…I just can’t. I have a 2.5 year old and a 10 month old, and these things have left me feeling so disturbed.
As someone with chronic low milk supply, who suffered neglect from my parents, I have lived and breathed all things breastfeeding and gentle parenting for the last few years. These recommendations sound like a recipe for repeated mastitis, low milk supply, and a child with abandonment issues. I’m going to finish the book, but I’m hoping someone can give me some supplemental info to help me understand all this.
I’m facing a dilemma now where if we do stand by these things, I just can’t agree with any of it. That calls into question all of Shelton’s recommendations. If we don’t stand by them, then that also calls into question his other recommendations. Someone please help calm my anxiety and confusion!

So disappointing, not even 30 minutes in and already I have had to remove dozens of comments from people who do not understand the basics of how the body works. Please take the time to read before commenting. Please keep comments in line with terrai … See more
