Natural pregnancy care and birth

Hey I’m looking for information and/or advice on natural pregnancy care and birth. I’m 39 years old and less than 2 months pregnant. I have 2 teenage daughters and I don’t want doctors involved at all this time unless necessary due to my experience with my girls and now that Im older and have learned the truth about things I know why I was uneasy and nervous back then. I want a healthy baby and I know my body is perfectly capable of doing what it should I just want to know how to help the process. I had c sections previously but I’ve always wanted a natural birth with a midwife or doula.. I know this sounds crazy but with my girls I was so excited for the pain the blood the tears everything and I was cheated out of that experience. I was strong enough to refuse all injections for my girls and I breastfed but I had to fight every moment to keep them with me and not have them taken off to wherever. I don’t want to go through that again and I don’t want my baby to go through that. Any advice is much appreciated.

Terrain answer:

Preparing your body by making sure you are in the best health possible is all you really need to do. As you said, your body is perfectly capable of doing what it knows to do instinctively. Having someone with you that you trust can help put your mind at ease but ultimately it comes down to finding someone who is not going to tell you what to do and is going to respect your wishes for the birth. Shelton’s book on the Hygienic Care of Children is a really good read for preparing for a new baby.
