On Perspective in Health and Healing everything is relative to your current knowledge base. I’d like to address this because I think there are a lot of people out there who think along these lines in both pet health and in human health. I think this is why corporations have gotten away with killing so many humans with chronic diseases and creating an epidemic of Cancer in our pets. Health is measured on a sliding scale based on what is “normal” or “average”. Symptoms of illness are also measured and judged based on what is normal or common. Lets look at some examples. If the average age of life in your family is 75 and you live to 80, you would think, hey I’m pretty healthy, I’m doing the right things. I’ve gained 5 years. But lets change the perspective. If you knew the average life in your family tree is 75 but you also are aware that the natural human lifespan is 120 years, now your perspective changes. Now you know that people in your family tree are on average losing 45 years of life. That changes things. Significantly. Now lets say you are 65 and getting arthritis, aches and pains. You might look around at the current diseased population, see lots of people with arthritis, aches and pains. You might recall your parents or grand parents groaning when they get up from a chair and you might accept that aches and pains are “normal” as you age. But if you were educated in health you would understand that these are not at all normal for the human frame but signs of acidosis/toxemia/inflammation from decades of poor diet. You might look to populations like the Hunzas and see 100+ year old people who still walk miles every day, sit on the hard ground and rise to their feet with ease and without a grunt or groan. In our pets today we accept that medium sized dogs like the Golden Retrievers, for example, they live an average of 9 years on kibble. So if your Golden Retriever lived to 10 or 12 you would think that you were doing great. But if you then looked at the data and saw that in the 1970’s Golden Retrievers average age was 17 years, now that 12 years doesn’t look great and 9 years is heartbreaking. Perspective is based on current knowledge and as the knowledge expands our perspectives change. We learn to see the signs of discomfort and disease which we wrote off as “normal” before. We also begin to realize that the negative effects build slowly, in barely perceptible layers, year after year. They slow down a little. They get some gray hairs. They get lumps and bumps. And if we didn’t know better we would think these are all normal signs of aging and just accept them. I know that I did. I know my Vet kept saying thats “normal”, lots of dogs get those bumps and growths as they get older. Lots of dogs slow down as they get older. Lots of dogs sleep a lot as they get older. But now I know that none of that is Normal, it is simply COMMON. And that makes me sad because our loved ones don’t deserve that. Health or Disease, Joy or Pain, Vitality or Suffering ALL are YOUR CHOICE which you manifest.
