There’s a new technology being...

Question:

There’s a new technology being introduced to the produce market. It adds lipids and glyco-lipids to produce supposedly to extend the length of their freshness. In their FAQ file (see below), they claim it is edible and hard to wash off. I’m thinking better to scrape off the peel of the cucumbers that I bought today that seemed to have this coating applied to them. What do I need the extra fat in my diet for? Who knows what unforeseen other problems this innovation might cause?

I saw this the other day. It’s sounds like a new plant based version of waxing. Personally I’m not concerned by it but I do generally peel all waxed fruits because they taste better without the wax.
